Discussions Guidelines

Nokia Support Discussions is a global meeting place for Nokia product owners. Here you can discuss Nokia products and Ovi services, ask for assistance from other Nokia users and help others by providing solutions.

This global forum is currently available via seven Nokia websites: Europe, USA, Asia, Middle East & Africa, UK, Ireland and Australia. So don't be surprised if you are on the Nokia UK website and people from the US talk about Nokia products that are only available in the USA.

This is a peer-to-peer support forum, and Nokia does not provide direct customer support via these boards. However, people from many different Nokia departments actively follow these discussions. Constructive feedback is valued and always welcome.

If you wish to get personal assistance from Nokia customer support by phone or email, please visit the "Contact Us" section of your local Nokia website.

We who run this forum for Nokia do not welcome any petitions or other demands for Nokia, as they are simply out of this forum's scope. Tens of millions of people visit this forum per year, and we cannot guarantee any official comments or statements from Nokia about any topic - but we do our best to make sure that the relevant people at Nokia know what's going on here. And if we receive any official statements from Nokia on any issue, we try to publish them in related discussion topics.

You may meet people here with a "Nokia employee" tag. They are voluntary Nokia employees who want to participate in these discussions, but they are not official support people or Nokia spokesmen.

We have a team of professional moderators who are monitoring the discussions. Their main duty is to oversee that all members play by the guidelines listed below, but they may also post news and information coming from Nokia.

New to Nokia Support Discussions? Please take a minute to read through the community guidelines.

------

The Basics

Just ask. The boards are here for you. If you don’t understand something, there are plenty of registered users and moderators who can help out. Regardless of whether you’re a beginner or an expert, your questions and input are valid and appreciated.

Know the golden rules of posting:

1. Search before you post. If you are looking for an answer to a specific question, there’s a good chance that it has already been posted. First try a search using likely keywords. If it looks like the question hasn’t been answered, please post!

2. Be specific. Including detailed information in your post will help other users understand your issue.

3. Stay on topic. The sole purpose of Nokia Support Discussions is to make it possible for Nokia phone owners to help each other with the use of existing Nokia products. Please avoid other topics, even if related to Nokia and its products.

4. Show respect. Please ensure that all of your posts contribute to the supportive atmosphere of the board. Flaming or disrespecting other board users is not allowed. For more specific information on what Nokia considers disrespectful/inappropriate, see below.

5. Thank those who help you. Rating helpful messages and posting thank you replies are ways of showing appreciation.

Act responsibly. Please remember that advice or information posted in a discussion is the personal opinion of the person providing it. If something sounds wrong to you, do not try it. In particular, if any user asks you for personal information, such as an account number, address, password or credit card number, do not provide it – instead, report the user to a moderator.

Moderators are here to help. The Nokia Support Discussions are a moderated forum. From time to time moderators may participate in discussions, but their primary purpose is to help facilitate the functioning of the boards and assist you in their use.

No-Nos

Your posts appear automatically, but posts that violate the community guidelines may be edited or deleted by a moderator. Repeated and/or serious violation of the guidelines may result in a user being banned from the discussions or even legal action, so please play by the rules.

Examples of discussion no-nos include:

Promotion or spamming: Nokia Support Discussions are intended for problem-solving, not promotion. Please refrain from posting anything that would constitute advertising, junk mail, spam, chain letters, or any other form of unauthorized solicitation.

Illegal or offensive posts: Posts that are obscene or pornographic, abusive, inflammatory, illegal, libelous, or otherwise objectionable or injurious are not allowed. Posts that refer to religion, politics, race, nation, gender, or sexual orientation are off-topic and not allowed.

Harassment (“flaming” ): Personal attacks or harassment ("flaming" ) are not acceptable in the public discussions or private messages.

Infringing on copyrights or intellectual property rights: Post only your own thoughts and/or material. Don’t post anything that violates or infringes on any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, or other proprietary rights, and don’t post URLs or links to websites or servers offering content or downloads that violate intellectual property rights.

Posting harmful or inaccurate information: Don’t post information, URLs, or links to websites or servers that contain software viruses or any other computer code, files or instructions that are designed to disrupt, damage, or limit the functioning of any software or hardware or that may void the warranty of a Nokia product.

Nokia will attempt to conduct these activities in a timely fashion; however, Nokia is not responsible for delays in editing or removing posts, or for failure to do so.
