I am an avid Mac user and I was debating whether to buy a Nokia E71 or an Iphone but since Nokia stated in their technical specs on the Website that they MAC support syncronization using Isync so I went ahead and bought the E71. See Link (http://www.nokia.com.sg/A41163117)
To my big disappointment it is not compatible with Isync and when I contacted their help desk in Singapore I got a really confusing and not very insightful message:
"With regard to your email, we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused. In this instance, I suggest that you get in touch with Macintosh to see if they have any software that will enable the synchronization between the Nokia mobile phones and your computer."
When I then called Nokia support desk they kept blaming Apple for the incompatibility which makes no sense when Nokia is the one guaranteeing on their website to providing the connectivitiy.
I am now debating whether to return my handset and go for the Iphone 3G because I cannot wait to not having a clear answer ?
Hi, I can't find /library/phoneplugins i can only find library/phones
where do i find it and what do i do what i do? i dont get the copy and paste part... do i copy the zip file or the folder inside (Nokia_E71v1.1.phoneplugin) or the sub-folders?
is this meant only for bluetooth syncing?? i have done what was stated earlier... i created the phoneplugins folder... added the unzipped folder/files inside... restarted isync... but still can not see E71...
i used the USB cable but which option should i use?
I'm using OS 10.4.11. I have download the .zip file. But when I click on add device. It say "This device is not supported by iSync" Did I miss anything?
I'm able to use bluetooth to transfer images but not sync-ing with my Address book
i figured it out. Its because i didnt have any previously installed Nokia plugin. I went and downloaded the e51 plug in from nokia, then added your e71 plugin and it works.
Unfortunately there is a small bug in the v1.1 plugin. If you click 'More Options...' from the iSync phone page, you get a dialog where there are selections like:
[ ] Synchronize only contacts with phone numbers
Don't synchronize events prior to [One week ago]
[ ] Don't synchronize events after [One year]
[ ] Synchronize alarms
[ ] Synchronize all-day events
All-day events become read-only events on your phone.
At least with Apple v3.0 plugin for my Nokia 9300i also the 'Don't synchronize events prior to' is selectable with a checkbox. I did not have any trouble or at least did not notice any errors in synchronization. Also events in the future syncronized anyway.
