Hi All

Have been a happy owner of a E65 for a couple of months, but the sofware has some flaws especially around the wireless where it tends to drop the net. I have been on the outlook for an upgrade of the firmware but without luck so far. A lot of the models that has been released since E65 like N95 and 5700 Expressmusic has already been fed with upgrades to the firmware. Does anyone know why the E65 haven't seen a firmware upgrade yet? or even worse if Nokia is not planning with such an update?

Regards
Rundelight

It will get one eventually but it looks like nokia are too busy fixing the many bugs in it's flagship phone, the N95.

I brought my Nokia e65 to a Nokia Service Center a couple of days ago and they called me today, saying that the problem with the phone (crashin when using slider, for example) was not fixed.
Actually, the phone crashed during upgrade and needs to be inspected by Nokia...

I think there is a reason that Nokia isn't providing user firmware upgrades for the e65, yet :smileywink:

This is all very strange as version 1.0633.58.02 on my Vodafone UK handset does not suffer from this at all.

What version is on your phone?

Maybe the 1.0633.58.02 has reveiled other problems and are they working on a newer, final (???) one.

Mine is version 1.0633.18.01 on O2 and has never crashed when answering or ending a call with the slider.

Could it be the theme that's causing it to crash? Try a different one than the default.

They did try to upgrade, but the phone crashed during upgrade. Maybe they don't release a user upgradable firmware because of these problems, I don't know. But I will let you know which version is installed when the phone is returned.

s6m_ - the boards here are for user-to-user support only, and aren't the place for getting a response from Nokia. The moderators are only here to moderate, so aren't able to help with these kind of questions. If you want help from Nokia, you should use the 'Contact us' link at the top of the page to contact your local Nokia team.

You might also want to read over the Discussion Board Guidelines which is something everyone should read before posting on the boards. It explains this and other things.

"Even though Nokia does not provide direct customer support via these boards, people from many different Nokia departments actively follow these discussions. Constructive feedback is valued and always welcome."

That's coming from the guidelines. So,i fully understand why s6m_ is posting his question. This phone is buggy, and there should already be an update for their firmware available.

Regards.

While some Nokia employees do read the boards, s6m_ said 'still waiting for an answer from Nokia' - I was just pointing out that they won't get such an answer on the boards.

If anyone wants an answer from Nokia, waiting for it to be posted here isn't a good way to do this. They should use the 'Contact us' link at the top of the page and ask their local Nokia team directly.

Althought I agree this is the correct route I would not expect to get any insight via this route.

My experience of the Contact Us would be to expect a

Please keep an eye on the website response

is this fair?

We're just here to moderate - I can't really comment on that. If you're not happy with the responses you get from your local Nokia team they'll have their own complaints procedure. You'd need to contact them to find out what it is, though.

i sent a long e-mail to nokia uk support pointing them to various threads about the e65's slider problems and asking for any answers/help they could provide. it's been a week and no response. what is the point of these forums if nokia doesn't care about the valuable user feedback they could recieve here?

I think what s6m's trying to do is to rally up the masses to start using the official support channel as he/she did as well. I can only speak for myself, having phoned up support and told "sorry, no firmware"... I'm eagerly awaiting the firmware update.

(and hoping they add some BT drivers for 3rd party GPS units :smileytongue:)

yes, maybe if more people start using the "contact us" feature, there will be some sort of official reply.
